Black Mountain Pleads Guilty to One Count of Possessing Child Porn

erik-corbin-petersonErik Corbin Peterson, 47, of Black Mountain will wake up every day for the next six years in a federal penitentiary after pleading guilty to child porn charges.

Going on a tip, the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation in December 2013 that turned up more than 1,000 pornographic images of children on Peterson’s computers. Some pictures showed pre-teenage children engaging in sadistic and masochistic conduct.

Peterson pleaded guilty in April to one count of possessing child porn and was sentenced in August to 75 months in a federal prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, and ordered to pay $17,000 restitution to known child victims. Upon his release from prison, he will be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.

His sentence was announced Aug. 16 in a press release from the office of Jill Westmoreland Rose, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.

Peterson remains in custody waiting for transfer to a federal facility.

All federal sentences are served without the possibility of parole.
